Horror, Fantasy, and Sci Fi

I live with you is (supposedly) a woman who lives in the crawl spaces of strangers (cafe's, department stores, etc.) and watches and 'changes' their lives. This woman follows You home (also could be a woman) and see that they are alike in most aspects of their lives.  I think this is very unrealistic and just unnerving and unsettling for the most part, like this person or being, just attaches to someone just like them to somewhat live through them. They never steal from the person or business they live in, just 'borrowing' or using until no longer able. Anyways this woman involves another person into this life, some random old man she saw at the grocery store and tries to get You to fall in love with him to add spice to You's life. Long story short it blows and You notices this woman and the woman decides to leave You's house that very night. This story was almost surrealist to me like this woman never felt like a person, this woman always felt like an emo...

This short story has a numb tone to it. The flashbacks and descriptions of the world are very vivid and truly make me feel like I'm there, but when brought back to the current state of this world I feel almost empty and the whimsy and wonder of the past is gone. I guess that's how they wanted us to feel. I feel like Parker misses how the world used to be (i feel him on that one) and how wide technology had expanded. Now, he is left in the rubble of what once was. He doesn't hate the world? But he is definitely not satisfied with how it's turned out. Kinda like if the beautiful national parks were replaced with cheap shopping centers, it's sort of that feeling.

Holy shit. Talk about a love story for the ages. First off I'll get this out of the way, the illustrations are gorgeous, Fiona Staples is truly a talented illustrator I highly recommend checking out her work. Second, the writing and plot are so good and using them in comic form does this world incredible justice. I read Saga, the first volume (issues 1-6) and they are GOOD. The comics mix the world of sci-fi and fantasy almost perfectly to the point where they seem like they're connected. the two opposing worlds Landfall and Wreath are so contrasting, they compliment each other.  Marko is probably my favorite of the two because he is such a dude-bro and who doesn't love a magic-wielding man with horns! Alana and Marko's love story is so out of place and weird I kinda love it? Imagine, falling in love with a person who hated your entire race and planet, AND meeting in prison AND falling for the guard that's in charge of you. (not really ideal in this reality but ...

Now, I wasn't huge into reading as a kid when the Harry Potter series came out. I would have much rather been drawing or watching cartoons. However, I have an older brother (about 4 years older than me) and he LOVED the books. Every book report or assigned summer reading he picked Harry Potter. So, naturally, I heard a lot about the books and they sounded cool, but my tiny 2nd-grade brain couldn't even FATHOM reading a thick monster that was' Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix'. COVID-19 (coronavirus) is one of the most lethal viruses to plague mankind in MASSIVE numbers since the Black Plague, with a devastating case number of 700,000 (as of March 29th), spanning over 6 continents, and killing 30% of those infected with it. Sound familiar? Well, it should. Since the birth of horror cinema, the undead (zombies) has been one of the most popular sub-genre, with a wide fan-based spanning from video games (Resident Evil), Television (The Walking Dead), and the big one, Movies (Zombieland, The Dead Don't Die, Train to Busan, 28 Days Later, etc.). Zombies have played an important role in 'Geek Culture' over the years, making a 'normal guy' into the main protagonist (Zombieland, Shaun of The Dead) geeks felt that (with enough preparation watching these movies) they could rule over the mass army of the undead instantly. With t-shirts, bumper stickers, online forums, roleplay, conventions, haunted house themes, and even shops, the zombie fan-base ...

Vampires. Yes, the best horror/romance combination that was made for some reason? Being bitten and having to spend your eternal life with someone you don't know just because they changed you? Sounds romantic. Interview with a Vampire is the first of MANY to start this vampire romance sub-genre (surprisingly had a homosexual undertone as well as rising a child together, pretty progressive if you ask me). Vampires are unarguably the sexiest horror villain to drape the genre. With Vampire Diaries , True Blood , Bitten , Vampire Academy , and so many more, vampires are seen as pretty hot. The mystery and finding a 'mate' to turn and spend the rest of eternity with does sound cool and all, but I think people have forgotten the horrifying beginnings of vampires. Nosferatu.
